DSN is the service provider organisation for people with sensory loss in Cheshire and the surrounding areas.

These services are delivered under contract for Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Flintshire and Wrexham Councils. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved on behalf of our service users throughout Cheshire since we were formed in 1976.

DSN was delighted to be re-commissioned by Cheshire East Council to provide an an All-Age Hearing Loss Service for people who are Deaf, living with a Hearing Loss or are Deafblind (dual sensory loss) across the Borough.

The service is delivered by our specialist Sensory Support Officers who who can provide BSL communication where required. The Sensory Support Team offers a range of support options including Drop-in sessions at our Macclesfield, Northwich, Flintshire and Chester, online support, home visits where appropriate and community engagement events.

Where someone may need additional support, Sensory Support Officers offer a holistic hearing assessment which informs an individual plan of support. The support can range from assisting with booking health appointments, to communication support with letters as well as advice on the self-purchase or loan of specialist technical equipment and installation of it.

We deliver an inclusive service with the aim to aid communication, enhance quality of life and promote independence. DSN is committed to raising awareness of sensory loss throughout the communities that we support. We work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach to service delivery.

Support for deafblind
(dual sensory loss) people.

DSN also undertake specialist assessments for deafblind people (people with a dual sensory loss) in relation to their social care, orientation, mobility, communication and daily living needs to determine the most appropriate intervention to meet personal goals and outcomes.

Completion of equipment needs assessments and provision of appropriate equipment, will ensure access to expert advice and practical help to manage their dual sensory loss.
