An Introduction to BSL (Unit 101)

This qualification is designed to enable learners to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of topics which involve simple, everyday language and leads to completion of the Unit 101 of the BSL Level 1 course.
Learners who complete this unit then have the option of continuing on their BSL Level 1 journey by attending a follow-on course to complete Units 102 and 103 in order to gain the full qualification.
Who is the course for:
- People with little or no experience of sign language.
- For those who want to learn basic language skills in order to communicate simple conversations with Deaf people
- Suitable for both Deaf and hearing applicants.
- Those who are parents, family, friends or colleagues of Deaf people
